Developed over 80 years ago by the well-known Appenzell naturopath August Diethelm and widely known, WIEWOHL from the Appenzell region is a well-established herbal medicinal product. WIEWOHL contains four essential medicinal plant oils, which are obtained from carefully selected fresh plants.
WIEWOHL is used externally for rubbing in cases of rheumatism, sciatica, lumbago, nerve inflammation, headaches, toothache, and insect bites. WIEWOHL is used for gargling in cases of cough and catarrh.
1 ml liquid (approx. 30 drops) of WIEWOHL contains: Menthae piperitae aetheroleum 0.75 ml, Eucalypti aetheroleum 80 μl, Juniperi aetheroleum 50 μl, Salviae aetheroleum 50 μl. Contains 7% v/v alcohol.
Keep out of reach of children. Store at room temperature (15 – 25°C).

| What should be considered? | For cough and catarrh: If symptoms worsen or if shortness of breath, high fever, or purulent sputum occur, a doctor should be consulted. For external use by rubbing: If persistent or increased redness, swelling, or pain occurs, a doctor should be consulted. |
| When should WIEWOHL not be used or used with caution? | This medicinal product contains four essential oils whose components—benzyl alcohol, citral, citronellol, eugenol, d-limonene, geraniol, isoeugenol, and linalool—can trigger allergic reactions. WIEWOHL contains approximately 53 mg of alcohol (ethanol) per 1 ml (30 drops), corresponding to 7% V/V. On damaged skin, it may cause a burning sensation.
Patients with bronchial asthma or known respiratory hypersensitivity should only use WIEWOHL after consulting a doctor. Patients with impaired kidney function should only use WIEWOHL for a short period and not over large areas.

Children 4–11 years: Use half of the adult dose. Children under 4 years: External rubbing is not recommended. Infants under 2.5 years: WIEWOHL must not be used externally. After application, wash hands thoroughly to prevent accidental contact with sensitive areas such as mucous membranes, open wounds, or eyes. Gargling for cough and catarrh Adults and adolescents from 12 years: Dissolve 2–5 drops in lukewarm water and gargle 3–5 times daily. Children under 12 years: There is insufficient experience using WIEWOHL as a gargle for children under 12. Therefore, WIEWOHL should not be used for gargling in this age group. WIEWOHL must not be used in the following cases:- Infants under 2.5 years, due to the peppermint and eucalyptus oils and the associated risk of laryngeal spasm or severe breathing difficulties.

- Children with a history of seizures (febrile convulsions, epilepsy).
- Known hypersensitivity or allergy to essential oils or to one or more of the active or excipient ingredients.
- On open wounds, irritated or damaged skin, or near the eyes.
