| What are Alpinamed Green-lipped mussel Capsules? | Alpinamed Green-lipped mussel Capsules are a natural food supplement. Each capsule contains 400 mg of pure concentrate obtained from the New Zealand green-lipped mussel Perna canaliculus through gentle cold extraction followed by freeze-drying, as well as natural, plant-derived vitamin E. |
| Why do Alpinamed Green-lipped mussel Capsules contain vitamin E? | Vitamin E obtained from plant seeds helps protect the body’s cells from oxidative stress and protects the green-lipped mussel concentrate from oxidation. |
| Where do the green-lipped mussels come from? | The green-lipped mussels (Perna canaliculus) used by Alpinamed to produce the capsules are cultivated in clean seawater along the coast of New Zealand (Marlborough Sounds). Sustainable mussel farming places particular emphasis on cultivating the mussels in areas with little shipping traffic and far from densely populated regions. The Marlborough Sounds, located at the northern end of the South Island, are a protected area surrounded by mountains and are known for their very deep and clean waters. Mussel farming is subject to internationally recognised quality standards (HACCP) as defined by the US-FDA. The harvested mussels undergo strict, officially controlled veterinary inspection before they are released for further processing. |
| How is the green-lipped mussel concentrate produced? | Shortly after harvesting, the fresh mussel meat is separated from the shells by cold extraction and then gently freeze-dried. The natural mussel concentrate obtained in this way contains 100% pure, concentrated mussel meat without any additives.
